Make Customers Feel Special with the Power of Thank You

The-Power-of-Thank-You

Xeno is about simplicity. It aims to help businesses streamline their processes, especially in the area of customer support. To stay on course with our vision and commitment, we help our customers to succeed in the fastest and least stressful way possible through a seamless customer service support.

Just like we mentioned in our previous blog, we always want to see our partners seal every deal with a KISS.

Therefore, when it comes to the question of customer retention, we also offer one of the most effective methods — using the power of thank you to encourage customer loyalty for a long time, even a lifetime.

Saying thank you is very easy. It is also one of the foundations not only in customer service but also in life. Sadly, people and businesses tend to overlook its power because of its simplicity.

Gratefulness goes beyond good manners. A lot of research has shown how powerful saying thank you is. No one puts it well enough than Gerald Good when he said “If you want to turn your life around, try thankfulness. It will change your life mightily”.

The Psychology of Thank You

One of the most significant studies on the impact of thank you was made by Martin Seligman, a pioneer of positive psychology. He researched different techniques that make people happy.

One of the top three methods is writing a thank you letter to someone and delivering it personally.

When we express our gratitude, our brains boost the neurotransmitter serotonin and activates the brain to release more dopamine. As most of us are already familiar, serotonin and dopamine are two chemicals responsible for making us feel happy.

The happy feeling does not only benefit the receiver but also the person who said thank you. In the same way, saying thank you to your customers in any way possible can significantly impact your business.

Beyond the Thank You Letter

In business, personally delivering a thank you letter to your customer is not the only way  to express your gratitude. It even goes beyond giving a coupon or a monthly freebie (although your customers will greatly appreciate it) to your customers.

We know you can do better than that! If you’ve been reading our posts here on Xeno for quite some time, you know that Xeno offers a fun, cheap and easy way to show appreciation to your customers.

Here are two “thank you” ideas you can implement right away. Feel free to adapt them to your needs:

Listen to Feedback and Implement Change

Customers often express their complaint or feedback if they are disappointed with the product or service we offer. Whether they are good or bad criticisms, they can give you valuable insight into what works and what doesn’t in your current workflow.

Instead of getting irritated, train your customer support staff to be grateful and assure the customer that you will do something about it.

If you think implementing changes based on this feedback can improve your product or service, do it.

After that, reach out to that customer and tell him you have implemented his suggestion. What better way to thank  your customer than to show them that you are listening to them?

Smart Tip:
Xeno allows you to track all the conversations you have so you know which ones need your immediate attention and which have been resolved already.

Free Gift or Surprise Upgrade, Spontaneously

A thank you becomes ten times better if unexpected. Thank your most loyal customers with a spontaneous upgrade to their service, or a gift that will be greatly beneficial to them.

My Internet provider is a master at this. They send free six-month subscriptions of different services from time to time. A month ago, for example, I was surprised to receive a free Netflix subscription for six months. I know it’s a marketing ploy, but I felt special.

Such appreciation gifts will not just make your customers feel special and loyal to you, but they can make them become your brand advocates as well.

You’ve Got the Power

Saying thank you is very powerful but gratitude is fast becoming a lost art in customer service. Don’t let your customers become disappointed and disinterested because they feel like they’re not appreciated. You’ve got the power in your hands, and it becomes even greater with an app like Xeno. Use it and fan back customer enthusiasm with these simple yet powerful “Thank Yous” and be surprised as they become raving fans.
